CHILD SAFE COMMITMENT

Astra Early Learning Port Melbourne is committed to safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. We understand our responsibilities and duty of care to comply with both the Victorian Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme to build our capacity to prevent and respond to allegations of child abuse.


We are committed to the safety, participation and empowerment of all children.


We have zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our robust policies and procedures.


We have legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child's safety, which we follow rigorously.

We are dedicated to protecting children from abuse and neglect and promote a child safe environment, we value diversity and do not tolerate any discriminatory practices.


We are dedicated to promoting cultural safety for Aboriginal children, cultural safety for children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, we will actively support and facilitates participation and inclusion within it by Aboriginal children, young people and their families and Linguistically diverse Backgrounds (CALD), those who are unable to live at home, children with a disability and/or children from sexuality and gender diverse groups (LGBTQIA+).


Every person employed is committed to ongoing professional development to maintain our ability to understand the role we play to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is upheld.


As professionals we listen to and empower children to act on any concerns, they or others may raise which is reflective in our policies and procedures in keeping children safe.
